My People, My people

image
Koo Kumi my people

We bend and bend and sleep
We sleep and sleep and dream
Dream of things we never see
Never saw,
Dragons and Unicorns

We wish and wish and hope
And hope and hope and pray
Pray till we get tired
Tired till we can’t dream
My people, my people, my people

We love too deep
And we hate too shallow
My people know the gods of the old but not the super heroes of the new
I say, my people, my people, my people
My people want to say “I love you”
They say it when you are asleep so you can’t hear them
My people

    1. I was inspired by a series of events.

      1. How we struggle for nothing and wish for things we will never have after a long worship with the church and others

      2. How people want to show love but they are too scared, egoistic and proud.

      3. How the dead gets all the nice words… (Bob Okala, and a lot of people who have died before the “I love yous”

      1. Interesting sources of inspiration.

A few thoughts on what inspired this work:

About the second point, couldn’t it be more because people don’t know how to show love?

About the first point, that could easily be because we overemphasise the priority of certain things?
